Job summary

WSP in Canada seeks an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Vancouver team, shaping resilient water and wastewater infrastructure. You will lead structural design, coordinate with BIM teams, and mentor emerging professionals on impactful projects across British Columbia.

The role requires a Master’s in Structural Engineering, a P.Eng. with EGBC, 10+ years in the field, and strong BC code knowledge. Travel for site visits may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or seismic-focused program.
• 10+ years in structural engineering, preferably for water and wastewater facilities.
• P.Eng. designation with EGBC.
• Experience producing technical memos, reports, and client-facing docs.
• Strong knowledge of BCBC 2024, NBCC, CSA A23.1/2, CSA A23.3, ACI 350, CSA S16, CSA S900.2.
• Proficiency with STAAD.Pro, S-FRAME, CSI suite; familiarity with ACC and Revit.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination and make complex decisions with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for water and wastewater facilities.
• Lead structural design packages using software, calculations and standards.
• Prepare markups in Bluebeam and coordinate with BIM teams to translate analytical work into models and drawings.
• Conduct site inspections for construction, structural condition assessments, and rehabilitation projects.
• Provide construction support including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and change management.
• Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Architectural disciplines to integrate design solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, project exposure, and professional development.
• Apply sound engineering judgement, ethics, and standard methodologies in complex project environments.
