Job summary

JLR in Canada is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead building projects across our Buildings Market. You will mentor engineers, design in concrete, steel, masonry and wood, and apply BIM and collaborative tools to streamline multidisciplinary work.

You will drive growth by expanding the client base, manage budgets and schedules, perform seismic analyses, and stamp final deliverables as Discipline Lead on multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Senior structural engineer with 10+ years of building structures design experience.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineers.
• Proficiency with BIM and collaborative design technologies.
• Seismic analysis and design experience.
• Ability to manage budgets and schedules on multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor intermediate and senior engineers through building projects from concept to completion.
• Apply innovative design solutions using BIM and collaborative technologies to streamline multidisciplinary processes.
• Perform studies and design steel, concrete and masonry structures and provide technical support during construction.
• Drive business growth by expanding JLR’s client base through your network.
• Serve as Discipline Lead, coordinating across disciplines, QA/QC, and stamping final deliverables.
• Support workload management to meet deadlines.
• Participate in development of competitive proposals.

Your Role as Senior Structural Engineer:

Choose your own adventure! Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home at JLR. As the Senior Structural Engineer, your role will include:

• Leading and supporting intermediate and senior engineers in completion of building projects in concrete, steel, masonry and wood from concept to completion.
• Leveraging innovative design solutions, including BIM, alternate project delivery models, and collaborative technologies to streamline the multidisciplinary consulting process.
• Carrying out studies and preparing reports, designing steel, concrete and masonry structures and providing technical support and contract administration during construction.
• Driving business growth by applying your industry expertise and leveraging your professional network to expand JLR’s client base.
• Completing complex seismic analysis and design of new and existing structures.
• Working and collaborating with an established, multidisciplinary, integrated technical team of architects, planners, engineers, and technologists.
• Participating in the development of competitive proposals to secure new assignments.
• Participating in continued education through formal technical training and collaborative presentations such as lunch and learns.
• Assisting with workload management to ensure project deadlines are met and final deliverables align with client expectations.
• Mentoring junior engineers and technologists.
• Acting as a Discipline Lead on multidisciplinary projects, taking leadership of the structural design team, driving the overall design, coordinating across all intersecting disciplines, taking responsibility for the budget and schedule of the structural deliverables, being responsible for the QA/QC processes, and stamping the final deliverables.
