One of our clients, a busy and well-established engineering consulting firm, is currently looking to hire a Senior Structural Engineer (Buildings) in Toronto. ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Structural Engineer or Designer, you will be involved in a variety of tasks and responsibilities, including:
- Perform structural analysis and design for projects such as municipal, residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, including existing structures.
- Client liaison and coordination with stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Assist in preparing fee proposals for structural aspects of projects.
- Manage technical staff in preparing contract drawings and documents, delegate tasks.
- Coordinate structural designs with other disciplines (Architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, landscaping).
- Provide structural engineering support during construction, attend site meetings, and conduct field reviews.
- Contribute to the development of quality standards and liaise with other office locations.
WHAT’S REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering, emphasizing Structural Analysis and Design.
- Registration as a Structural Engineer with PEO.
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including building design.
- Knowledge of North American building codes and standards, including seismic design.
- At least 8+ years of experience with commercial, residential, and civic projects (excluding primarily oil and gas or energy/industrial projects).
- Proficiency in structural engineering design software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience mentoring junior staff preferred.
- Experience with business development activities such as proposals is a plus.
