Giffen Consulting Ltd. is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Saskatoon. You will lead design and review of structures for mining and heavy industrial projects, conduct site investigations, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) from an accredited university.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
• 8+ years of progressive Structural Engineering experience on mining/heavy industrial projects.
• Familiar with standards, regulations and codes of practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations for mining and industrial projects.
• Review and design structures, building envelope systems, and structural components per guidelines and client specs.
• Create concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs.
• Prepare detailed concrete and steel designs and 3D models with documentation.
• Provide oversight on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget.
• Review cost estimates and assist where needed.
• Write and review technical reports, specs, and construction specifications.
• Coordinate with departments and disciplines for project implementation, mine design, and inspections.
• Travel for site visits as required.
• Present project designs to clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with vendors and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Giffen Consulting Ltd. (Giffen) is looking to add a Senior Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering team. We are looking for an individual with a mining and heavy industrial background to join us on a full-time basis at our Saskatoon Office. This is a senior-level position that offers opportunities with a growing company.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be able to:

• Conduct site investigations for mining and industrial projects
• Review and design structures, building envelope systems, and structural components while adhering to established guidelines and client specifications
• Concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs
• Detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with design team to produce 3D models and associated documentation
• Member sizing with supporting calculations
• Provide oversight on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget to ensure projects are completed to specification
• Provide cost estimating review and assistance
• Write and review technical reports, specifications, and construction specifications
• Provide coordination with various departments and disciplines as required for project implementation, mine design, and inspection
• Ability and willingness to travel for site visits
• Ability to present project designs and concepts to clients
• Collaborate with vendors, clients, and other key stakeholders

Qualifications + Experience

• Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural Engineering, from an accredited university
• Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada
• 8+ years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects
• Familiar with structural analysis software like BIM, Advanced Steel and RISA (Revit is an asset)
• Familiar with greenfield and brownfield mining projects
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
