Job summary

Lycopodium Americas is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Mississauga, ON to provide technical leadership in structural design and project delivery. You will lead design/drafting coordination, perform design calculations, and ensure compliance with industry standards across concrete and steel structures.

Ideal candidates have a degree in structural engineering, PEng in Ontario, and 8+ years in mining or heavy industrial settings, with strong client engagement and team leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in mining, minerals processing or heavy industrial environments.
• PEng Ontario licensure required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate structural designs and drawings (concrete, steel, foundations).
• Perform engineering design calculations and interpret drawings, specs, and scopes.
• Ensure timely delivery of designs within schedules and budgets.
• Conduct and support design reviews for codes and standards.
• Collaborate with drafting team to enable efficient drawing production.
• Manage vendor and procurement inputs, including tender evaluations and technical recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and deliverables (scopes of work, specifications, material take-offs).
• Support project delivery and team performance through stakeholder collaboration, mentoring, and documentation control.

Lycopodium Americas is currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Mississauga, ON.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer - Civil/Structural the Senior Structural Engineer will provide technical expertiseand coordinate expertise from external sources to effectively complete project or study requirements.

The tasks you'll perform

• Deliver accurate structural designs and drawings (concrete, steel, and foundations) aligned with project, client, and regulatory standards.
• Perform engineering design calculations and interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes to meet project and process requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of structural designs within agreed schedules and man‑hour budgets.
• Conduct and support design reviews to ensure full compliance with design intent and applicable codes and standards.
• Collaborate with and support the drafting team, providing clear design input to enable efficient drawing production.
• Manage vendor and procurement inputs, including tender evaluations, technical recommendations, and review of vendor documentation.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and deliverables, including scopes of work, specifications, material take‑offs, and project records.
• Support project delivery and team performance through stakeholder collaboration, mentoring, documentation control, and contribution to scope, cost, and schedule (including ad‑hoc travel).

The expertise you'll bring

• Degree in Structural Engineering (or equivalent) and registered Professional Engineer (PEng) in Ontario.
• 8+ years’ experience in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial environments, with familiarity in process plant design.
• Strong technical expertise in structural engineering, including concrete and steel design, with experience in FEA and dynamic analysis tools.
• Proven ability to lead and manage design/drafting teams, delivering to budget, man‑hour, and milestone requirements.
• Demonstrated capability to work independently, delivering accurate, high‑quality outcomes to agreed deadlines.
• Effective client engagement skills, managing design and drafting interactions professionally.
• Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects).
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills, with a practical approach and commitment to continuous professional development.

The expected salary range for this role is $110,000 to $140,000.This range is based on the role’s job family andlevel and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting.Your final offer will depend on factorssuch as market conditions, internal equity and candidateexperience,skills,andqualifications relevant to the role.We believe in fair,competitivepay that reflects the valueyoubring to the team.
