Job summary

Entuitive is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Edmonton team. You will perform design and calculations for structural components, coordinate with BIM and engineering staff, and mentor junior engineers. This role focuses on delivering complex projects while upholding standards and budgets.

The position emphasizes leadership in client meetings, coordination across disciplines, and applying high-level QA processes within a hybrid work model in Canada.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with a focus on civil and structural engineering and 7+ years in the AEC industry.
  • Professional Engineer status in Alberta.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes.
  • Experience with SAP2000, RAM, and other structural analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design and calculations for columns, beams, slabs, foundations, and lateral systems.
  • Coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents with BIM technologists and team.
  • Conduct field reviews and contract administrative duties.
  • Draft project-related correspondence.
  • Mentor junior staff and oversee design production.
  • Lead client meetings and provide status updates.
  • Review architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
  • Monitor internal project costs and review monthly invoicing.

What will you do?
  • Structural engineering design and calculations for all structural components including columns, beams, slabs, foundations, and lateral systems from the beginning to end of a project lifecycle.
  • Design and engineering using materials such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold formed structural steel, and wood.
  • Works to assemble and coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
  • Conduct field reviews and other contract administrative duties.
  • Drafts project‑related correspondence as needed.
  • Lead internal project design teams, including delegatingappropriate designtasks to and overseeing the technical production of the design engineers.
  • Lead clientmeetingsfacilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
  • Conducts review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.

Requirements
What do you need to succeed?
  • An engineering degree with a focus on civil and structural engineering, coupled with 7 or more years of professional experience in the AEC industry.
  • Professional engineering status in the Province of Alberta.
  • Knowledge of theappropriate buildingcodes.
  • Strong project management capability with a proventrack recordof delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and structural analysis software (SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks andprioritiesand deliverables on an ongoing basis.
  • Knowledge and interest related to embodied carbon is considered an asset
