The Software Platform (SP) team builds the foundational infrastructure and developer platforms that power all of Robinhood’s products. Our mission is to increase developer velocity and ensure system reliability at scale by delivering robust, scalable, and secure systems. The SP organization is composed of five core teams—Networking, Observability, Compute, Provisioning, and Storage—that work together to provide seamless, high-performance infrastructure and tools for the entire engineering organization.

As Senior Staff Software Developer, you’ll serve as the senior-most individual contributor for the Software Platform organization in Toronto, acting as a technical leader across all five SP teams. You’ll own roadmapping, architecture, and drive technical strategy for foundational systems, collaborating closely with stakeholders across Infra to solve the most critical challenges in scalability, reliability, and developer efficiency!

What you’ll do
  • Lead architecture, strategy, and technical direction across SP teams, driving end-to-end system design and alignment.
  • Build scalable, reliable infrastructure systems
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to solve technical challenges and define best practices.
  • Act as a mentor and technical leader, sharing expertise and fostering growth across teams.
  • Own roadmapping and delivery of critical platform initiatives, including service mesh implementation and infrastructure modernization.
What you bring
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in a Staff or Senior Staff role
  • Proven track record in technical leadership, system design, and architecture at scale.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional engineering initiatives and shipping platform-wide improvements
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, AWS, gRPC, and related tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and align diverse technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with observability, compute, storage, and provisioning platforms; prior experience in infrastructure or platform engineering preferred.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed.
