Job summary

Equinix in Toronto is seeking a Senior Staff-level engineer to architect, design, deploy, and operate software solutions powering our API ecosystem. You’ll collaborate with business and product teams to shape requirements and ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Senior staff-level experience building and operating production systems or internal developer platforms.
• Deep experience with API lifecycle management and governance (OpenAPI, OAuth2/OIDC, versioning).
• Hands-on with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Linux-based CI/CD.
• Strong coding skills in Go, Python, or JavaScript.
• Automation-first mindset with end-to-end ownership and influence-based leadership.
• Familiarity with gateways/edge tech (Apigee, ALB, Ingress, Envoy) and identity patterns.
• Experience with SDK generation for multi-language clients and compatibility testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own tooling powering Equinix API ecosystem, including governance, SDK/IaC/documentation generation.

Job description

• Responsible for architecture, design, deployment, and troubleshooting of different software solutions
• Interacts with the business and product teams to influence requirements
• Responsible for integration with all business systems and applications
• Works closely with the architecture and networking teams, to influence the design, validation, and deployments
• You’ll design, build, and own the tooling that powers Equinix’s API ecosystem. This includes API governance and specifications, SDK/IaC/documentation generation, and developer platform workflows- running on Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
• You’ll lead technically across teams, improve developer experience, and raise reliability through automation (including AI-assisted checks)

• Senior Staff-level experience building and operating production systems or internal developer platforms
• Deep experience with API lifecycle management and governance (OpenAPI, OAuth2/OIDC, versioning, compatibility)
Hands-on experience with Terraform (providers and modules), Kubernetes, and Linux-based CI/CD
• Strong coding skills in Go or Python or JavaScript
• An automation-first mindset and comfort owning systems end-to-end while leading through influence
• Familiarity with gateways/edge technologies (e.g., Apigee, ALB, Ingress, Envoy) and identity/authorization patterns
• Experience with SDK generation for multi-language clients and compatibility testing
• Experience with developer and documentation platforms (e.g., Docusaurus, Backstage, Confluence), including plugins and build integrations
