Smart4 Energy in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of its solar carport product portfolio. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role involving structural calculations, connection design, technical reviews and field support, working under the Structural Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• PE/P.Eng. licensure in structural engineering (or pursuing)
• Minimum 7 years of structural engineering experience on steel structures
• Experience with on-site erection and field construction
• Ability to own a technical workstream from design to close-out
• Experience with solar carport or PV mounting systems
• Familiarity with ASCE 7, IBC and regional standards for wind, snow and seismic loading
• Experience coordinating geotechnical requirements on challenging sites

Responsibilities

• Lead structural calculations and connection design for solar carport configurations.
• Prepare design packages for review and approval by the Structural Engineering Manager.
• Review drafter work for accuracy, constructability and compliance.
• Act as primary technical reviewer for solar carport designs.
• Collaborate with senior engineering leadership on standards and approaches.
• Work with customers and EORs to address site constraints and develop buildable solutions.
• Coordinate with geotechnical engineers and foundation contractors on soil conditions and frost depth.
• Support field changes, RFIs and fabrication tolerances during construction.
• Assist Sales during quoting and feasibility assessments.
