Job summary

Henry Schein One Canada is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the True North team and evolve Dentrix Ascend for the US market. You will design, develop, test, and deliver reliable software for a cloud-based SaaS platform used by dental practices.

The role involves mentoring, cross‑functional collaboration, and contributing to modernization efforts. The position is hybrid with a Surrey, BC office day each week; you will engage with Product, Engineering, UX, and Quality partners to drive

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience building complex web or SaaS apps.
• Strong experience with Java and modern OO development.
• Experience with Groovy, Grails, Spring or similar Java framework.
• Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modelling, and ORM.
• Experience writing unit/integration/automated tests.
• Experience with cloud-based applications and modern dev environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software for the Dentrix Ascend platform.
• Build high-quality backend services, APIs, database integrations, and user-facing functionality.
• Translate product requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and balance delivery, scalability, and maintainability.
