Morningstar is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the Data Delivery Platform, enabling fast, reliable access to global investment data. You will design cloud-native microservices on AWS, collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers, and drive architectural decisions for high-availability systems at enterprise scale.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise-scale apps and distributed systems.
Strong programming experience with Java and Spring Boot; Python a plus.
Deep understanding of OO design, patterns, DDD, and modern software architecture.
Hands-on experience deploying cloud-native solutions on AWS.
Experience building RESTful APIs and scalable backend services.
Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, IaC, and DevOps practices.
Strong cross-team collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design and implement cloud-native microservices and APIs supporting millions of data requests with high availability.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
Champion best practices: TDD, observability, code reviews, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and resilience.
Evaluate new technologies, including data engineering tools and Generative AI, to enhance platform capabilities.
