Job summary

Vivid Seats in Toronto, ON, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve the core Java-based systems supporting multi-million dollar monthly revenue. You will work in a hybrid 3-days-in-office model on a fully cloud-native AWS stack, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability within the Consumer Team.

You will lead engineering efforts across distributed systems, implement best practices, and collaborate with Product Owners, QA, Data, and Platform Engineers to deliver

Qualifications

• Experience with Java or other major platforms (Python, React) and multi-tier architectures.
• Strong RESTful API design and experience building, testing, and maintaining robust REST-based services (Spring, SOA, OAuth).
• Experience in modern front-end technologies such as JavaScript, React, and SPA frameworks; interaction with APIs.
• Experience with cloud-based architectures, AWS preferred.
• Experience with distributed messaging systems such as Kafka, AWS SNS, and SQS.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS EKS.
• Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions to automate build/test/deploy.
• Proficient in SQL and relational DB modeling (RDS Aurora MySQL), knowledge of MongoDB.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into high-level architectural designs; SME across architecture implementation deployment.
• Strong communication/collaboration skills in cross-functional Agile teams.
• Proactive mindset towards embracing AI tools to drive efficiency and innovation.

• Lead and mentor small teams of engineers to develop innovative solutions for our marketplace.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, development methods, and technology evaluations.
• Deliver scalable, high-performing services and front-end components for the core platform.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, Data, and Platform Engineers to deliver software.
• Participate in sprint planning, estimations, and technical design discussions.
• Invest in continuous learning to evolve skill sets with team goals.
