Job summary

WCB-Alberta is seeking an IT Asset Coordinator III to lead software asset management across the organization. You will drive audits, reconciliations, renewals, and compliance, coordinating with vendors and internal teams.

In this role, you’ll transform data into actionable insights, produce executive dashboards, and ensure licensing positions are optimized across on-prem, cloud, and SaaS environments. Hybrid work with Edmonton/Calgary offices is available.

Qualifications

  • University degree in IT, Business, or Computing Science or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Several years of software asset management experience with a focus on software/SaaS licensing.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or higher (preferred); Knowledge of IT Asset Management/Software Asset Management standards (e.g. ISO 19770).
  • Professional Software Asset Management certifications (CSAM, CITAM) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex licensing concepts into clear, concise language that is easily understood by diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with relevant compliance standards and regulations (e.g. software license terms; public sector procurement rules).
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools—Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, and Teams.
  • Familiarity with BI tools for data analysis and reporting (PowerBI).
  • Proficiency with software asset management platforms (Ivanti IT Asset Management) and discovery tools (Ivanti End Point Manager).
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build effective working relationships.
  • Self-motivation, with excellent time-management and organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for major Software Asset Management (SAM) initiatives, including audits, true-ups, renewals, and remediation projects.
  • Facilitate and support the development or refinement of Asset Management & Compliance processes.
  • Lead Software Asset Management-related components of enterprise initiatives or projects as the subject matter expert.
  • Research emerging software concepts and share the insights to inform policy, process, and technology decisions.
  • Provide regular dashboard reports and executive summaries on software asset status, compliance risks, and value optimization to IT leadership.
  • Compile, prioritize, schedule, and execute annual software reconciliations and renewals for complex software products, ensuring compliance with usage rights and contractual obligations.
  • Produce detailed and summary audit reports for completed reconciliations to maintain readiness for external manufacturer audits.
  • Facilitate and track remediation of non-compliant software findings.
  • Conduct regular audits of prohibited software and coordinate removal actions.
  • Serve as the SME for external software audits, leading all phases and coordinating with vendors and teams.
  • Interpret licensing data to support decision-making, resolve issues, and optimize licensing position.
  • Manage licensing and subscription models for cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and AI solutions (e.g., Copilot).
  • Collaborate to optimize SaaS and cloud subscription costs and usage.
  • Optimize software licensing spend across perpetual, subscription, cloud, and SaaS models.
  • Identify cost-savings opportunities during reconciliations to maximize value.
