Job summary

IBM is seeking a Senior Software Developer/Architect to contribute to the Connect Platform Team at Confluent, bridging Apache Kafka with the broader ecosystem. You’ll design, build, and operate connectors for on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring secure, scalable data movement across systems.

You’ll lead a team, drive architectural decisions, and deliver high‑quality streaming solutions while collaborating with cross‑functional partners to shape the roadmap and modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Proven track record of leading the delivery of large-scale, secure, highly available, low latency systems.
• Experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
• Hands-on expertise in hyper-scale distributed systems engineering.
• Experience running production services in the cloud with on-call rotation.
• Cloud-native expertise including networking and security.
• Experience with Java, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Strong collaboration and growth mindset in cross-functional teams.
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with distributed systems, cloud-native development, and secure, scalable data integration.
• Architect a complex engineering system from end to end.
• Collaborate across engineering and stakeholders to roadmap a Data Streaming Platform.
• Evaluate and enhance the platform's technology stack; adopt state-of-the-art solutions.
• Solve complex projects with high quality and provide technical guidance.
• Improve stability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Lead and mentor a team of developers.
