Job summary

IBM Confluent is building a cloud-native, multi-tenant platform for real-time data across Kafka and related services. We seek senior engineers who can lead backend design, drive end-to-end delivery, and raise reliability and performance across large-scale systems.

You will work with diverse teams, shape architecture decisions, and mentor others while ensuring high availability and secure operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting backend systems in production.
• Strong knowledge of Python, Go, C/C++, and Java.
• Experience with public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native tech.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the design and implementation of complex backend services in a cloud-native, microservices-based environment.
• Make architecture and tradeoffs to balance reliability, scalability, and operability.
• Drive projects end to end from requirements to production rollout.
• Improve service reliability by defining SLOs/SLAs and observability.
• Collaborate across teams to define APIs and data models.
• Identify platform and productivity improvements for the engineering org.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and design guidance.
