Job summary

Thales Group in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Analyst for the Advanced Security Response Team (ASRT) to provide first response to security incidents and focus on operational aspects of web application security. You will analyze threats, remediate and mitigate in real time, while maintaining strong customer relationships.

You will manage technical escalations, collaborate with Product, CS, Security and Management to resolve issues and expand the ASR program globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Telecommunication or related technology field.
• At least 6 years in application or network security in a customer-facing role with last 3 years in security engineering/threat mitigation, or 4 years with a master's in technology with at least 2 years in security engineering/threat mitigation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; customer-focused.
• Experience with Internet security and networking tech (TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL/TLS, QoS not required).
• Hands-on experience identifying BOT behavior and mitigating BOT attacks; familiarity with common web app attacks (SQLi, XSS, OWASP Top 10).
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, Java, etc).

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for the Americas ASR team; mentor engineers and promote best practices in incident response and app security.
• Own technical resolution of complex customer issues and escalations with timely communication and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Customers, Services, CS, Threat Research, Product Management, Development, and Engineering to resolve high-impact issues and drive improvements.
• Analyze customer traffic, logs, attack trends, and security alerts to identify risks and strengthen security posture.
• Design and optimize custom security policies to detect, prevent, and mitigate application-layer attacks while minimizing false positives.
• Serve as escalation point during large-scale attacks, zero-day threats, and advanced exploits.
• Document findings, create knowledge-base articles, and share best practices for operational consistency.
• Develop automation to streamline ASR workflows and improve incident response efficiency.
