Job summary

Desjardins in Lévis, Canada is seeking a senior security advisor to develop and optimize security measures aligned with corporate objectives by planning, implementing and overseeing best practices to strengthen Desjardins's security posture. You will lead sub-specialties, coordinate with stakeholders and guide decisions at the highest level.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale development projects and initiatives in security with organization-wide impact
  • Identify, develop and recommend security strategic directions balancing business needs and best practices
  • Advise clients and partners to plan, develop, execute and monitor strategic security projects
  • Identify, analyze and diagnose major issues and provide solutions to decision-making bodies
  • Develop and update policies, standards, models and programs to support strategic initiatives
  • Provide security programs to internal employees to promote ethics and compliance
  • Represent the security unit before senior management and decision-making bodies
  • Negotiate and represent Desjardins in external agreements and partnerships

Required

As a senior security advisor, you help develop and optimize security measures to align with corporate objectives by planning, implementing and overseeing best practices to strengthen Desjardins's security posture. You help develop the Desjardins Group Security Office's priorities and governance, and work on different aspects of our security practices. You're responsible for one or more sub-specialties, such as personal information and data protection, information security, physical security and financial crime and fraud prevention. You lead practitioners on development projects and innovative, complex, cross-sector strategic initiatives related to security. You help develop and recommend strategic directions and business positions. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge in your field of expertise. You make recommendations on the development and execution of projects and initiatives with a very high degree of operational and conceptual complexity. You use your analytical skills and comprehensive, in-depth understanding of your line of business and the organization. Coordination is critical as you are interacting with many stakeholders working in a wide range of fields. Interpersonal skills are therefore essential. You serve as an expert advisor and subject matter expert, as well as a resource person and coach for senior management and decision-making bodies. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Lead large-scale development projects, initiatives and activities in your area of expertise that have a significant knock-on effect on the entire organization
  • Identify, develop and recommend security strategic directions to balance business needs, requirements and best practices
  • Advise your clients and partners to help them position, plan, develop, execute and monitor strategic projects and initiatives under your responsibility
  • Identify, analyze, report and diagnose major issues and recommend solutions to decision‑making bodies
  • Develop and update policies, standards, models and programs to support your unit's strategic projects and initiatives
  • Offer security programs to internal employees to promote the organization's culture of ethics and compliance
  • Represent your unit before senior management committees and decision‑making bodies
  • Represent and negotiate on behalf of Desjardins and enter the organization into agreements with external partners and organizations.
