Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Release Engineer to bridge Software Engineering and QA, drive automated build and deployment systems, and enforce release gating. You will also help expand DevOps practices by integrating AI agents into our CI/CD workflows.

In this role you will design scalable pipelines, act as final release authority, triage environment issues, and collaborate with QA and Engineering to keep throughput high while ensuring security and compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Software Release Engineering, DevOps, or Build/Test Automation roles.
• Proficiency in continuous integration and delivery tools (CloudBees, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Programming in Python, Bash; knowledge of Ruby preferred.
• Experience with Docker and container registry management.
• Working knowledge of Linux systems.
• Familiarity with AI tooling and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Designing and maintaining scalable pipelines and custom tools to optimize build workflows.
• Acting as final release authority with strict release scheduling and quality gates.
• Identify and resolve environment-level issues to maintain pipeline throughput.
• Integrating AI agents and eval frameworks into CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and log analysis.
• Participating in a broader DevOps group designing AI agents for production monitoring and escalation.
