Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Edge Compute division, driving UI/CLI/API UX and robust backend work. You will contribute to distributed systems, implement tests, and help shape design decisions with product managers.

With a focus on reliability and performance, you will resolve issues, review code, and collaborate across teams. Remote options in Canada supported from Ottawa area.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in Angular/TypeScript and Java/Spring Boot.
• Ability to write unit and integration tests.
• Strong debugging skills in distributed Linux systems, microservices, and containerized environments.
• Hands-on experience writing agent instructions and implementing workflow best practices.
• User-first mindset for evaluating UX across tools and interfaces.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for a positive user experience across UI, CLI, and API.
• Learn our distributed systems and technical stack, including Java programming.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to improve design and performance.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
• Contribute to team culture by fostering collaboration and best practices in pipelines.
