Job summary

Akamai Technologies GmbH in Ottawa, Canada is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to help build and maintain cloud APIs and identity management solutions. You will design comprehensive test plans and drive quality across the Cloud Experience Quality Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related field.
• Solid understanding of SDLC and testing methodologies.
• 8+ years of Python-based automation and API testing experience.
• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux and core networking (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP).
• Experience with Kubernetes, including deploying and managing containers.
• Proficient with Git, Jira and CI/CD tools.

You will work with the development teams to support Quality practices. You will be responsible for building manual and automated integration and system tests. You will be responsible for quality of our various API and other services offered on Akamai cloud. You will also ensure that our cloud platform is resilient, secure and scalable.

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for:

• Reviewing product designs, Architecture and specifications and developing comprehensive test plans, and executing functional, load, and performance tests.
• Providing continuous contribution to test automation infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, including writing automated tests and reviewing peer automation pull requests (PRs).
• Partnering closely with a cross-functional, globally distributed team of developers, SDET engineers, architects, and program managers (US, CA, Poland, India).
• Ensuring all systems and software meet product specifications while actively contributing to release readiness decisions and deployment schedules.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related field or its equivalent
• Have a solid understanding of SDLC and testing methodologies.
• Demonstrate proven experience of more than 8 yrs of developing Python-based automation frameworks and testing REST/Open APIs.
• Have solid hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments and core networking concepts (HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP).
• Be proficient with Git, Jira, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and basic MySQL database querying/schema design.
• Possess experience with Kubernetes (K8s), including deploying, managing, scaling, and troubleshooting containerized applications in Kubernetes environments
