Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Recreation Worker to plan, develop and run meaningful recreation and leisure activities for residents in long-term care. The role emphasizes wellbeing, creativity, and a sense of community.

You will support residents’ skills, document participation, and collaborate with families, volunteers and staff to maintain engaging programming across home and community settings.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or related field.
• Enrolled in program with intent to complete within three years of hire is acceptable.
• Experience providing recreation services in health care settings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and run recreation and leisure activities.
• Support development of resident skills and personal connections.
• Observe and report changes in resident participation; update plans of care.
• Collaborate with families, volunteers and staff to foster engagement.
• Evaluate programs for quality improvement.
