Job summary

The City of Markham is seeking a Recreation Coordinator - Programs and Outreach to lead inclusion and adaptive programming, marketing, and community engagement for City of Markham residents. You will supervise a team of three full‑time staff and sixty part‑time staff, aligning services with community needs and demographics.

You will establish operational standards, recruit volunteers, and guide data‑driven decision making across Recreation programs, events, and partnerships.

Qualifications

• A university degree or college diploma in recreation or related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years supervisory experience in recreation or customer service.
• Extensive knowledge of seniors, youth, inclusion and programming methodology.
• Current Standard First Aid or CPR C with AED certification.
• Knowledge of social services and community resources for vulnerable populations.
• Experience with legal requirements for operation of aquatics, fitness and programming services.

Responsibilities

• Lead inclusion camp services and programs.
• Develop strategic framework, standards and policies for inclusion programming.
• Provide direction to Recreation staff on inclusion and adaptive programming.
• Coordinate marketing and communications roadmaps for the department.
• Oversee annual community events schedule and staff standards.
• Recruit, train and recognize volunteers for programs and events.
• Provide data analysis to support program planning.
• Liaise with advisory boards and committees.
• Lead and coach both full‑time and part‑time staff.
