Job summary

Mastercard in Vancouver is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver large-scale distributed systems based on reactive architectures. You will own software delivery tasks, mentor teammates, and drive integration of services for a superior customer journey in real-time payments.

In this role you will adopt new languages, participate in agile processes, and help elevate code quality and system reliability across a global engineering team.

Qualifications

• Excellent programming skills (OOP, SOLID, 12-factor). Java is preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD concepts and automation pipelines.
• Exposure to Kafka and stream processing platforms like Flink.
• Secure coding standards and vulnerability management awareness.
• Infrastructure as code and cloud-first development experience preferred.
• Knowledge of TDD/BDD and design patterns; able to write repeatable automation code.
• Familiarity with common design patterns and multiple languages.

Responsibilities

• Own software delivery tasks (code development, test, deployment, release, configuration and documentation) at an application/software component level.
• Troubleshoot and refactor for high-quality code and maintainability.
• Adopt new languages and architecture patterns as needed.
• Participate in the team’s agile process and decisions.
• Drive integration of services focused on customer journey and real-time payments.
• Mentor and guide new and less-experienced team members.
• Develop end-to-end understanding of architecture and dependencies.
• Share knowledge to promote reuse of patterns and libraries.
