Job summary

Mackenzie Investments in Toronto, Canada, seeks a senior software engineer to help build the next generation of our systematic investment platform. You will work across data, signals, and portfolio construction using Python, AWS, and GenAI infrastructure.

The role offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment with hybrid work and opportunities to influence investment technology and research across multiple asset classes and geographies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in financial services or another quantitative domain.
• Educational background: degree in a field with experience using technology to solve quantitative problems.
• Strong interest in capital markets and the systems that support them; prior experience is a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of Python and experience using Pandas.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: Git, code review, automated testing, system design.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate AWS-based services for portfolio workflows and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
• Develop GenAI infrastructure (Bedrock or SageMaker, vector databases, RAG, LLM frameworks) to accelerate research and workflows.
• Design and support software and systems for systematic investment decisions across asset classes.
• Implement and support retirement of holdings and position management, trade submission, and reporting.
• Collaborate with investment professionals and technology teams to build supporting technology.
• Own reliability, observability, and operational health of production systems.
