Career Opportunities: Senior Quality Assurance Analyst (524)

Reporting to the AVP, Quality Assurance Manager, the Senior Quality Assurance Analyst will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate, verify, communicate, and resolve systems and software application issues through careful testing in order to maximize the benefit of IT investments and initiatives. The primary focus of this senior position is to ensure the quality of our evolving product suite meets the high expectations of our clients. The incumbent will be responsible for testing strategies, mentoring junior staff, collaborating across other functional teams, participating in a program of continuous improvement, and developing testing subject matter expertise of Butterfield Bank applications.

About the Team
Information Technology covers a wide range of responsibilities at Butterfield including oversight of the Bank’s entire technology infrastructure, software development and maintenance to facilitate online product development and efficiencies, as well as management of the website and intranet platforms. IT also plays a critical role in ensuring the Bank’s systems are kept safe and secure from cyber criminals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Ensuring that testing activities will allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  2. Collaborating with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.
  3. Ensuring that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
  4. Reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing testing strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  5. Working with the AVP, Quality Assurance and project teams to create testing strategies and plans.
  6. Creating and executing test scripts, cases, and scenarios that will determine optimal system performance according to specifications, while remaining within budget.
  7. Conducting all types of application testing as needed, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
  8. Analyzing formal testing results in order to discover and resolve defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
  9. Identifying areas for improvement within the product to enhance its efficiency.
  10. Producing status reports to be distributed to project and Bank leadership.
  11. Producing documentation for all testing efforts, results, activities, data, logging, and tracking.
  12. Liaising with Bank/external partners (Project Management, Applications Management, Business Process teams, etc.) to ensure the highest level of software quality.
  13. Liaising with Butterfield Technology partners for prompt rectification of any problems.
  14. Sharing knowledge of application-testing best practices.
  15. Identifying and recommending process improvements to ensure continuous improvement in Quality Assurance area.
  16. Independently managing activities and directing others in response to ad hoc requests.
  17. Assisting in the build and release management process with Change Management team(s).
  18. Supporting other testing analyst team members as needed.

Your qualifications and skills include:

  1. University degree or college diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
  2. Minimum of six years' work experience in quality assurance and/or software testing, including hands-on experience in a Senior role.
  3. Certification in Quality Assurance (ISTQB, CSTE) would be considered an asset.
  4. Experience in developing and maintaining automation framework and scripts.
  5. Knowledge of system testing and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
  6. Experience in core banking support/testing would be an asset.
  7. Familiarity with financial industry processes and standard operations would be a benefit.
  8. Proficiency with automation and testing tools such as Helix, QuickTest, or other testing support systems.
  9. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken English.
  10. Proven success working as a team member.
