Job summary

Crown is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support financial reporting for our portfolio in Ontario. You will work with property managers to ensure accurate and timely statements, and assist with budgets, CAM, and year-end activities.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in commercial property accounting, strong Excel/Word skills, and experience with Yardi. CPA is an asset, and this is a full-time Ontario role in a dynamic real estate team.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting or related field is required.
  • CPA Designation is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience within the commercial property management industry.
  • Advanced Excel and Word skills are required.
  • Experience using Yardi and real estate terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the property accounting records for the assigned Commercial portfolio.
  • Generate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Assist in reconciliation of capital projects costs and analyze capital expenditures.
  • Prepare annual CAM and Tax final billing adjustments.
  • Perform month-end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement prep.
  • Assist with budgets and various finance department tasks.
  • Support property administration staff in financial management and respond to inquiries from owners and managers.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually

Position Summary

The Senior Property Accountant reports to the Manager, and Supervisor of Property Accounting to provide reliable and timely financial reports for properties managed by CPMI on an efficient basis and provide efficient support to property managers and administrators.

Responsibilities
Provide Superior Returns to our Investors through Accurate and Reliable Financial Information:
  • Maintain the property accounting records for the assigned Commercialportfolio
  • Generate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assist in reconciliation of capital projectscosts
  • Complete the analysis of all capital costsincurred
  • Prepare annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and Tax final billingadjustments
  • Prepare year-end audit working paper files and maintain amortizationschedules
  • Perform month-end activities, from balance sheet and account reconciliations to financial statement preparation
  • Assist with the preparation ofbudgets
  • Assist with various functions within the finance department asassigned
  • Support the property administration staff in the financial management of theirproperties
  • Respond to various inquiries of Owner’s and property managementteam
  • Analyze property records and address outstanding issues
  • Attend monthly financial reviewmeetings
  • Monitor cash flow for assignedproperties
  • Prepare monthly HST reconciliation
Deliver Excellent Service to Tenants and Vendors:
  • Efficient and effective communication, in a professional manner, with all employees andclients
  • Support property management administration staff in responding to financial inquiries from tenants and vendors (receivables, CAM and Tax recoveries)
Perform other related responsibilities as requested from time to time
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting or related field, required
  • CPA Designation, considered an asset
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience within the commercial property management industry
  • Advanced MS Office skills, specifically in Excel andWord
  • Experience working withYardi
  • Understanding of Real Estateterminology
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time managementskills
  • Intermediate to advance Excel skills and working knowledge of real estate and property management financial accounting systems and software
