Job summary

Graham, one of North America’s largest general contractors, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead all aspects of project financials, safety, quality, subcontracting, labour and equipment on projects across Canada. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will build teams and manage client and field relationships.

This role requires a minimum of 8 years of direct experience, a technical trade certificate (degree preferred) in construction management or a related field, and leadership

Qualifications

  • 8+ years direct construction project experience.
  • Technical trade certificate required; degree in construction management, engineering or related field preferred.
  • Leadership training completed or equivalent certification.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and Graham systems.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and train staff in requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Manage safety and environmental programs on the project.
  • Maintain and administer the project cost reporting system.
  • Prepare and monitor the project master schedule with the PM team.
  • Coordinate drawings, records, and revisions.
  • Oversee change orders and site instructions.
  • Document verbal clarifications and distribute to stakeholders.
  • Administer labour, equipment, material and sub-trade costs.
  • Lead the team with a clear vision towards project completion.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.

About The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director the Senior Project Manager is an experienced construction professional who will manage all aspects of project financials, costing, safety, quality, subcontracting, labour, and equipment. The successful candidate is a team-builder with broad spectrum talent that allows for the management of key relationships from client to the project team, external stakeholders, and field supervision.

As a Senior Project Manager At Graham, You Will
  • Ensure preparation, implementation, and administration of Safety and Environmental program on the project in conjunction with Safety expertise group
  • Ensure maintenance and administration of the cost reporting system for all project components in Graham Toolbox System
  • Prepare and monitor the project master schedule in conjunction with the Project Management team
  • Ensure coordination and administration of drawings, drawing records, and revisions
  • Ensure coordination and administration of site instructions and change order process
  • Ensure written documentation for all verbal clarifications and instructions are obtained and distributed to project stakeholders as applicable
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly labour, equipment, material, and sub trade costs are administered and reviewed on a regular basis
  • Demonstrate superior leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others
  • Demonstrate strategic focus and lead the team with a compelling vision towards project completion
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of what it takes to build strong technical proficiency in construction, and a deep understanding of the business of construction
  • Access and leverage the expertise of others to both solve problems and maximize project efficiencies
Qualifications/Experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct experience required. Depending upon the project size, scope, and complexity, the years of experience may vary
  • Technical trade certificate is a minimum requirement; Technical Diploma or a Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred
  • Business Leadership Training -20 hours (Graham Foundations of Leadership or University Leadership course or Major approved certificate course)
  • Extensive knowledge in construction methods, project management processes, and Graham systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a high level 2 / low level 3 project or multiple level 2 projects
  • Ability to train project staff in all aspects of project requirements
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • The majority of work is completed on job sites in an office trailer or in an existing on-site structure. Due to daily condition changes on construction projects, when employees are outside of the office trailer or structure, they must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions
  • The incumbent may need to relocate to other geographic office / site work locations or travel as necessary
