Job summary

Bird Construction seeks a Senior Project Manager - Buildings East based in Winnipeg, MB, with travel to Manitoba sites. You will lead project teams, manage budgets and schedules, ensure safety, and drive project performance from startup to closeout.

The role requires a strong track record in large institutional or commercial projects, MS Project/Primavera, and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Completed education in a construction-related discipline (Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent).
• Demonstrated, progressive experience in general contracting with large institutional or commercial projects ($50+ Million).
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building for clients, consultants and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned projects from start-up through close-out, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and financial targets.
• Coordinate with estimating, preconstruction and operations teams to support planning and execution.
• Oversee project start-up activities, including handover from estimating and cost code setup.
• Develop, monitor and adjust project schedules with the team and subcontractors.
• Manage project financials: cost tracking, forecasting, budgets, billing and change management.
• Support procurement and subcontracting activities and subcontract award processes.
• Provide safety leadership following Bird Safety Program and regulatory requirements.
• Review RFIs, change orders, shop drawings and submissions before client issuance.
• Maintain project documentation and records per company standards.
• Participate in client, consultant and stakeholder meetings with clear progress updates and risk discussions.
• Identify, track and mitigate risks with an active risk register; prepare internal and external reports.
