Job summary

Bird is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead, direct, and coordinate the daily management of projects exceeding $30 million. The role ensures performance across cost, schedule, quality, and policy adherence, while developing a capable project team.

Based in Edmonton and supporting GTA projects, the position demands strong leadership, contract management, and client relations to deliver successful outcomes and career growth within a storied Canadian contractor.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience in General Contracting and direct PM of large institutional or commercial projects over $30 million.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management and problem solving for delivering results and developing team members.
• Ability to read and interpret contract docs, drawings, specs and schedules.
• Proficiency with MS Project and MS Office; Viewpoint PM experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety leadership through Bird Safety Program and monitor safety performance of project team and subcontractors.
• Plan, schedule, set objectives and control activities during the construction phase in collaboration with the Project Superintendent and Team.
• Supervise and develop project team members through feedback, training and coaching; complete performance evaluations.
• Administer and manage prime and subcontracts; negotiate and award subcontracts and review performance.
• Manage project budget and billings; coordinate with accounting to ensure timely payments of A/R and A/P.
• Review costs and identify revenue opportunities to improve project profitability.
• Provide monthly and quarterly reporting on financial and overall performance to Senior Management.
• Foster positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects and subcontractors.

Senior Project ManagerThe Senior Project Manager leads, directs, and coordinates the daily management of the assigned project(s) more than $30 million dollars.

This position is accountable for the overall performance of the project including costs, schedule, quality, project status, and adherence to company policies and procedures. More importantly, the Senior Project Manager will manage a successful team and help develop future construction professionals.

This role will be based out of the Edmonton office and supporting projects in the GTA.

What You Will Be Working On

• Provide safety leadership through implementation of Bird Safety Program and monitoring of safety performance of project team and subcontractors.
• Planning, scheduling, setting objectives and controlling activities during the construction phase of a project(s) in conjunction with the Project Superintendent and Project Team.
• Supervision and development of project team members through regular feedback, training and coaching; timely completion of performance evaluations.

What We Are Looking For

• Institutional and commercial construction background.
• Completed education in a construction-related discipline as well as demonstrated, progressive experience in General Contracting; direct project management of large institutional or commercial projects in excess of $30 million dollars.
• Your demonstrated leadership, project management and problem-solving skills support your collaborative approach to delivering results and developing team members.
• Service and results-oriented, you are able to build and steward trust with a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors and team members to effect competitive excellence, pride in teamwork and outstanding project delivery.
• You have demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Project; experience with Viewpoint Project Management system will be considered an asset.
