Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • PMP certification obtained or in progress.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience, with insurance knowledge.
  • Experience with project management methodologies including Agile/Lean.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with project decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Define deliverables and translate requirements into project plans.
  • Coordinate timelines with Product Owners and Technology Managers.
  • Ensure on-time, on-scope, on-budget delivery aligned to objectives.
  • Identify dependencies, risks and resource constraints.
  • Lead change management, training, and adoption activities.
  • Facilitate meetings and resolve conflicts to maintain momentum.

Reporting to the Portfolio Director, the Senior Project Manager’s role is to plan and coordinate the implementation of solutions that deliver to business strategic objectives. This individual will partner with the Individual Leadership Team (ILT) to identify, plan and execute solutions that will support the achievement of annual business plans. This position acts as a liaison between ILT, Business Stakeholders, technical delivery teams and external vendors to effectively plan, resource and deliver key divisional strategic initiatives.

Work Arrangements :

This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you’ll do:
  • Build strong working relationships with project decision-makers, managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional team members.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define business deliverables and formalize project requirements into actionable project plans.
  • Coordinate business deliverables and timelines with Product Owners and Technology Managers to support the successful delivery of key initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while aligning with business objectives.
  • Identify, manage, and communicate project dependencies, inter-project impacts, resource constraints, and portfolio risks.
  • Support alignment of project activities with Individual Insurance strategic priorities and annual business plans.
  • Lead organizational change management activities, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, business readiness, training coordination, and adoption planning.
  • Facilitate meetings, foster collaboration, and resolve conflicts among stakeholders to maintain project momentum and drive results.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses while providing guidance to ILT members completing similar assessments.
  • Develop and deliver regular progress reports and updates to Individual division business leaders on key strategic initiatives.
What you’ll bring:
  • University degree with a minimum Bachelor's degree.
  • Obtained, or currently working toward, PMP certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience, including a strong understanding of insurance products and systems.
  • Project management and project planning experience, with knowledge of current project management methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of process management and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile and Lean methodologies is considered an asset.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional negotiation, influencing, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Superb organizational skills, along with experience in conflict management and stakeholder engagement.
