Job summary

Irving Oil Ltd. in Saint John, NB invites applications for a Senior Project Engineer to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering projects in an Owner’s environment.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. The role requires extensive capital project experience in oil and gas, strong leadership, and the ability to manage schedules, costs, and third-party engineering.

Qualifications

• University degree in engineering and 15+ years of capital-project experience in oil & gas, power or heavy industry.
• P.Eng designation or immediate eligibility required.
• PMP or project management designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and third-party providers.
• Drive continuous improvement of third-party engineering performance.
• Support engineering resourcing strategies and optimize allocations.
• Hold engineering teams accountable for schedule, cost (effort hours), and quality; escalate risks and mitigation plans.
• Lead third-party engineering sourcing, including scope development, bid evaluation, and vendor selection.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues and align design decisions.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet specifications, codes, and standards; resolve cross-discipline conflicts.
• Develop and maintain project engineering schedules to support project controls team members.
