We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Major Projects to support the delivery of the Waterfront East Rapid Transit Line (WERTL), a transformative transit expansion project that will extend service from Union Station to Toronto's eastern waterfront communities. Working within a complex, multi-partner environment, you will help coordinate design activities, project schedules, stakeholder engagement, and risk management to support the successful delivery of this city-building initiative.
This is a unique opportunity to join the project during a critical phase following recent funding approvals from all three levels of government. As part of the project team, you will play an important role in advancing one of Toronto's most significant public transit investments and helping deliver a project that will serve future generations of transit users.
As the Senior Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the Waterfront East Rapid Transit Line (WERTL), a transformational transit expansion project that will connect Union Station with Toronto's eastern waterfront communities. Working within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, you will serve as a key coordinator between project partners, consultants, municipal stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure design activities progress efficiently and in alignment with project objectives.
In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day coordination of design activities, supporting the advancement of engineering and technical deliverables while monitoring project schedules, milestones, and critical path activities. You will facilitate regular meetings and workshops, ensuring stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and aligned on project priorities and decisions.
A significant aspect of the position involves proactively identifying project risks, issues, and potential schedule impacts, developing mitigation strategies, and escalating critical concerns to project leadership when necessary. You will prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials to support project governance and executive decision-making while maintaining accurate project documentation and tracking tools.
Working closely with multiple delivery partners and the City's Transit Division, you will help ensure that all project elements are coordinated effectively and that design solutions support the long-term goals of the transit network and the communities it serves. Through strong stakeholder management, project coordination, and technical oversight, you will contribute directly to the successful delivery of one of Toronto's most significant public transit infrastructure projects.
You will promote a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination while providing leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.
