Job summary

W3Global in British Columbia is seeking an experienced hydrogeologist to join our mining services team. The position can be based in the Nanaimo office or from a home office near Vancouver.

You will lead hydrogeology components on local and international mining projects, supervise interdisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with mining environmental regulations. Strong communication and client-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate or undergraduate degree in hydrogeology, geology, geological engineering or related discipline.
• 18+ years of relevant consulting and/or industry experience in physical hydrogeology.
• Possesses professional designation with EGBC.
• An established network within the mining industry.
• Fluent Spanish is an asset.
• Strong work ethic with well developed organizational and time management skills.
• Working knowledge of environmental legislation related to mining (Mines Act, Environmental Management Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Water Sustainability Act).
• Experience with geological modelling (Leapfrog), groundwater flow modelling (MODFLOW/FEFLOW) and/or water balance modelling (GoldSim).
• Extensive experience managing client expectations and project deliverables.
• Willing to travel to remote locations; international travel may be required.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Provide hydrogeological leadership on local and international mining projects across the lifecycle (Design & Feasibility; Operations; Due Diligence & Independent Reviews; Environmental Impacts Assessments; Closure Planning).
• Lead hydrogeology components of large projects with interdisciplinary teams and deliver integrated water management solutions.
• Provide technical oversight on water supply exploration, seepage management, dewatering, hydrogeological characterization studies and environmental compliance.
• Support strategic planning and business development initiatives to expand mining services.

• Support strategic planning and business development initiatives to expand our mining services business.
