Job summary

Graham Contracting, Ltd. is seeking a Project Accountant to support its Buildings Divisions across Canada, including Mississauga.

The role provides end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of projects, covering project controls, reporting, budgets and forecasts, with strong collaboration with Operations to improve systems and processes. The candidate brings 8+ years in project accounting within construction or related industries, with ERP expertise (SAP preferred) and CPA designation preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting or related field; CPA designation preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant project accounting experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environments.
• Advanced ERP proficiency (SAP preferred), with experience supporting audits, compliance, and system/process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead transactional accounting, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, and month-end close.
• Manage subtrade contracts, owner billings, Accounts Receivable, collections, and change order reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contracts, tax, and regulatory requirements, lead audits.
• Prepare and analyze cash flow, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and support budgets and monthly reviews.
• Partner with Operations on project setup, bids, and contract administration while driving system and process improvements.

Graham is actively recruiting a Project Accountant to support the Buildings Divisions. Reporting to the Operations Finance Controller, this role provides end-to-end accounting and financial support for a portfolio of building projects, including project controls, reporting, budgets, and forecasts.

Your Role in Building What Matters – From Office to Site

• Project Accounting & Close – Lead transactional accounting, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, and month-end close.
• Contracts, Billing & Account Receivable – Manage subtrade contracts, owner billings, Account Receivable, collections, and change order reconciliations.
• Compliance & Audits – Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contracts, tax, and regulatory requirements, lead audits.
• Financial Reporting & Cash Flow – Prepare and analyze cash flow, Account Receivable, Account Payable, and support budgets and monthly reviews.
• Operations Partnership & Process Improvement – Partner with Operations on project setup, bids, and contract administration while driving system and process improvements.

The Right Tools for the Job

• Education & Credentials: Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
• Experience: 8+ years of relevant project accounting experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environments.

Compensation

• Salary Range $80,000 to $100,000 per annum
• Compensation aligned to education and experience, ensuring fair and competitive placement
• Three to five weeks of vacation, with additional credit for prior industry experience
