About The Senior Product Designer Role
We’re looking for a creative, innovative, and customer-obsessed Senior Product Designer to join Float! In this role, you’ll be responsible for building a seamless Corporate Spending experience, and creating and capturing value by accelerating the adoption and usage of our existing products.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Working closely with our Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Sales teams to take products from broad concepts through implementation and launch.
- Partnering with our customers to gain a deep understanding of their experiences and needs, identifying and filling product gaps while generating new ideas that empower them and drive growth. Discover additional methods to analyze customer feedback and measure product outcomes.
- Owning the look, feel, and experience of our user-facing application, design flows, and experiences, ensuring they’re simple and elegant.
- Ruthlessly prioritizing activities based on business and customer impact, focusing on features that move the needle. Communicating the ‘why’ behind the product roadmap, prioritization, and sequencing.
- Developing and delivering mock-ups, prototypes, and detailed specifications to communicate design and interaction.
- Taking broad, conceptual ideas and transforming them into useful and valuable experiences for our customers.
About You
Here’s what sets you up for success at Float:
- You Put Customers First, Always. You care deeply about delivering meaningful value. Whether you're building internal systems or customer-facing features, you're always thinking about how to make life better for our users.
- You Act Like an Owner. You take responsibility for outcomes, step up to challenges, and seek solutions proactively—doing what’s best for the business, not just your role.
- You Think Big and Move Fast. You’re energized by building from 0 to 1. You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo, experiment quickly, and learn as you go.
- You Constantly Learn and Grow. You’re hungry to improve your craft and open to feedback. You bring a growth mindset to everything you do.
- You Raise the Bar. You care about doing things well and efficiently. You balance speed with rigor and always look for ways to improve how we work.
- You Win as a Team. You’re a generous collaborator who values communication, context, and shared wins. You lift others up and help make the team stronger.
In addition to living our values, you...
- Have the experience. We’re looking for 7+ years of Product Design experience, preferably in B2B SaaS, early to mid-stage startup environments. You understand modern, front-end engineering tools and practices, and how they work together to deliver a great experience.
- Sweat the details. You’re extremely technically proficient in Figma. You build clean, reusable components based on existing constraints and auto-layout everything.
- Are comfortable with ambiguity. You’re scrappy and enjoy finding creative ways to work through obstacles. You’ve taken ownership of the product experience before and have outstanding time management skills.
- Are a strategic thinker. You can create a vision, and you know how to execute it. You leverage quantitative and qualitative data to analyze your work and consistently improve products.
- Are an excellent cross-functional communicator. You effortlessly connect with any team in an org, especially Engineering. You possess astute influencing skills, and you have the ability to bring multiple stakeholders together and problem-solve between various groups. You are a skilled listener who is able to understand and synthesize diverse perspectives and opinions.
- Have an understanding of the market. You’ve worked with accounting/finance related products, or have worked closely with finance leaders. You’re commercially focused with an understanding of the market and the business we’re in. You’re no stranger to an ROI mindset.
- Are customer obsessed. You're all about building relationships, understanding customer needs, and advocating for them passionately. You care about the details that matter to them.
- Are an owner. You take complete ownership and accountability of delivery and outcomes. You translate business requirements into technical specifications, overseeing the development process, and ensuring successful deployment. You are ready and willing to make tough decisions to achieve broader business goals and outcomes.
This may not be the role for you if…
- You're not driven by the vision of building Canada's top business finance platform.
- You’re not an outstanding communicator.
- You’re unable to juggle multiple priorities.
- You work best when a manager is always providing the next project.
- You prefer predictable routines over the dynamic, independent nature of startup culture.
- You’re uncomfortable working independently, remotely, or asynchronously.
- You aren’t a team player.
- Resilience and openness to direct feedback aren't your strengths.
- You aren’t comfortable taking calculated risks.
- You have an ego.
- You like to play politics.
