Job summary

Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Senior pre-construction manager to lead early to advanced development activities and optimize readiness before construction.

You will coordinate with development, engineering and major contract teams to ensure project readiness. You will develop cost estimates, assess project class estimates, maintain risk registries and implement governance across planning, budgeting and handover phases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration.
  • Specialization in wind and solar energy is an asset.
  • 7–10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in development and/or construction of wind and solar projects in the United States and/or Canada.
  • Contract negotiations are an asset.
  • Storage experience an asset.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Understanding of renewable energy project development.
  • Service-oriented with teamwork.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in English (oral and written).
  • Proficient with MS Office suite (MS Project, Visio, Excel).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Knowledge of GlobalMapper is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate construction and engineering activities for complex projects across development stages.
  • Develop construction and operations cost estimates with cross-functional teams.
  • Assess class estimates for projects and guide commercial/major contract teams.
  • Develop and maintain a pre-construction risk registry and apply contingencies.
  • Implement governance mechanisms: cost control, schedule, risk matrix, and project execution plan.
  • Engage in industry networking to stay informed on incentives and trends.
  • Coordinate handover from Development to Construction and Construction to Operation stages.
  • Collaborate with major contract team to tailor construction strategy per project.
  • Participate in project portfolio acquisition and due diligence efforts.
  • Ensure effective coordination within the multi-disciplinary project team.

Your contribution!

The Senior pre-construction manager is responsible to lead pre-construction effort from early to advanced development stage and will work in close collaboration with development, engineering and major contract teams to ensure project readiness and optimization prior to initiating construction activities.

Your day-to-day!
  • Responsible to plan, schedule and coordinate efforts related to construction and engineering activities for complex projects during various development stages.
  • Develop construction and operations cost estimates in collaboration with various cross functional team (based on inputs provided by engineering, construction project managers, commercial & major contract team and operations).
  • Assess class estimates required for projects given their development stages and provide guidance to commercial and major contract team.
  • Develop and maintain a pre-construction risk registry and apply adequate contingencies to estimates.
  • Implement project governance mechanisms, such as cost control tools, schedule, risk matrix, and project execution plan.
  • Get actively involved in industry networking events to maintain the company informed of any government or incentive program or any foreseen industry trends.
  • Plan and coordinate handover activities from Development to Construction and from Construction to Operation stages.
  • In close collaboration with major contract team, assess and implement construction strategy specific to a project and work.
  • Participate in project portfolio acquisition processes and coordinate due diligence efforts related to construction.
  • Ensure effective coordination and information sharing within the multi-disciplinary project team, mostly between development, construction, engineering & operations.
Your skills, our requirements!
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration.
  • A specialization in wind and solar energy, an asset.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in development and/or construction of Wind and Solar projects in the United States and/or Canada.
  • Contract negotiations, an asset.
  • Storage experience, an asset.

  • Proficient with the MS Office suite (especially Microsoft Project, Visio and Excel).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, an asset.

Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.

To support pay transparency, the hiring range for this position is $130 000–150 000 per year, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.

Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
