Job summary

Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. is seeking a Senior Major Contracts and Commercial Manager to guide procurement strategies for development projects across North America.

You will lead major construction and equipment contracts, negotiate terms with suppliers, and support project managers from development through closeout. Based in Vancouver, BC, this P4 level role requires 7–10 years of experience in wind and solar procurement, a engineering or business degree, and excellence in contract

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration.
  • A specialization in wind and solar energy is an asset.
  • Experience in procurement and contract negotiation of wind and solar projects in the United States and/or Canada.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project development, organisation aptitudes and attention to detail.
  • Service-oriented with commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, a self-starter and energetic.
  • Proficient in English; knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop construction and major operations contracting and procurement plans and schedules, establishing milestones and cost controls.
  • Lead construction competitive RFP processes, negotiate contracts, and evaluate supplier performance during construction.
  • Prepare major contract documents (construction, major equipment supply, operations) with cross-functional input.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to support pricing input across markets.
  • Maintain market pricing databases and provide input to Strategic Planning.
  • Oversee contract development and ensure timely signatures.
  • Monitor US and Canadian markets for procurement opportunities and new suppliers.
  • Provide CAPEX and OPEX inputs and optimization solutions to planning.
  • Support procurement and contracting process improvements and project execution.

Your contribution!

The Senior major contracts and commercial Manager will be responsible to provide cost inputs and guidance for project under development and to implement the construction contracts and procurement strategies for project at development stage. The Senior Manager will be negotiating contracts and leading major construction and procurement contracts until execution. The Senior Manager will also ensure the successful implementation of the construction contracts during construction by supporting construction Project Managers teams and lead the project close out activities.

Your day-to-day!
  • Develop construction and major operations contracting and procurement plan and schedule including establishing milestones, engineering design timing requirements, tracking progress, and working with suppliers and contractors to minimize costs & risk and maximize supply reliability & quality.
  • Lead construction competitive RFP process, develop performance and evaluation criteria, negotiate and award contracts, and evaluate suppliers and contractors performance during construction.
  • Lead the preparation of major contract documents (construction, major equipment supply, operations) including specifications, general and special conditions and exhibits with support from legal, engineering, construction and operations teams.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure an efficient response to support development team on pricing input as required in various markets.
  • Maintain database of market pricing and trends.
  • Provide input and review to Strategic Planning team for market pricing database.
  • Oversee contract development and ensure that all agreements are signed in a timely manner.
  • Continuously investigate the US and Canadian markets and provide recommendations on Procurement timing and new suppliers and contractors candidates.
  • Provide construction (CAPEX) & operations (OPEX) inputs and optimization solution to planning team.
  • Support project acquisition processes on procurement, construction and operations strategy, scope and costs.
  • Ensure effective coordination and information sharing within the multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Support procurement and contracting process improvements.
  • Support, guide and assist construction team during project execution.
  • Manage and coordinate dispute and litigations related activities during project execution or post-construction.
  • Provide guidance to development team and strategic planning team on suitable construction strategies.
Your skills, our requirements!
  • 7-10 years of experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration
  • A specialization in wind and solar energy, an asset
  • Experience in procurement and contract negotiation of Wind and Solar projects in the United States and/or Canada
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project development, organisation aptitudes and attention to detail
  • Service-oriented with commitment to working within a multi-disciplinary team environment

Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.

To support pay transparency, the hiring range for this position is $125 000–150 000 per year, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.

Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
