Job summary

Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. in Vancouver, BC, seeks a senior leader to guide pre-construction planning, estimating and governance for wind, solar and hydro projects across North America.

You will mentor estimators and strategic planners, collaborate with Development, Engineering, Procurement and Finance, and drive continuous improvement in planning processes. Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in development/construction of wind and solar projects in US and/or Canada.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role with formal or functional leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Specialization in wind and solar energy is an asset.
  • Experience in contract negotiations is an asset.
  • Experience in storage projects is an asset.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Deep understanding of renewable energy project development.
  • Service-oriented with ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Independent and self-motivated with team collaboration.
  • Proficient with MS Office including MS Project, Visio and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pre-construction planning from early development to execution readiness.
  • Create governance tools: execution plans, risk matrices, cost controls.
  • Develop risk registries and apply contingencies to estimates.
  • Coordinate handovers between Development, Construction and Operations.
  • Report with the development team to meet objectives, timelines and deliverables.
  • Integrate engineering deliverables into procurement and planning.
  • Support value engineering and optimization during design.
  • Assist due diligence in project acquisitions and portfolio reviews.

Your contribution!

Leads a team composed of strategic planner(s) and estimator(s) to support the development and execution of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro). Oversees pre-construction planning, cost estimating, and project governance tools to ensure financial alignment and execution readiness. Collaborates cross-functionally with Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Finance to optimize project outcomes. Responsible for mentoring staff, maintaining market intelligence, and driving continuous improvement in planning and estimating processes.

Your day-to-day!
Project Planning
  • Lead pre-construction planning from early development to execution readiness.
  • Create and provide project governance tools as needed: execution plans, risk matrices, cost control systems.
  • Develop and maintain risk registries and apply contingencies to estimates.
  • Facilitate handovers between Development, Construction, and Operations and lead strategic planning team into the overall planning process from advanced development through construction.
  • Report and align with development team to ensure project objectives, timelines, and deliverables are clearly defined and achievable.
  • Oversee integration of engineering deliverables into procurement and construction planning.
  • Support value engineering and optimization efforts during the design process.
  • Support due diligence during project acquisitions and portfolio reviews.
  • Support permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder coordination to ensure pre-construction requirements are fully addressed.
Estimating & Budgeting
  • Oversee development of competitive cost estimates for wind, solar, and hydro projects.
  • Ensure alignment of budgets with scope, schedule, and market trends.
  • Maintain pricing databases and cost libraries.
  • Reconcile estimates with actuals and integrate lessons learned.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
  • Monitor industry trends, incentive programs, and pricing benchmarks.
  • Engage in industry networking to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with major contract teams to define project-specific construction strategies.
Team Leadership
  • Mentor and manage a team of estimators and strategic planners.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote continuous improvement in estimating tools and planning processes.
Your skills, our requirements!
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in development and/or construction of Wind and Solar projects in the United States and/or Canada.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a role that required leadership, formal or functional.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • A specialization in wind and solar energy, an asset.
  • Experience in contract negotiations, an asset.
  • Experience in storage projects, an asset.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.

  • The position can be based in the company's Vancouver (BC) office. Other Innergex offices can be considered.

  • This position is a M3 level.

Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.

To support pay transparency, thehiring rangefor this position is$150,000-$185,000per year, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.

Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
