Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods in Saskatoon is seeking a 2nd Class Chief Power Engineer to lead our Powerhouse team in delivering safe, reliable plant operations and optimal utility performance.

You will drive preventative maintenance, manage key equipment, and mentor engineers while upholding TSASK standards and our safety culture. This role leverages SAP/Factory Talk and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Valid and current 2nd Class Stationary Engineer with a Refrigeration “A” Operator certificate.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Chief Stationary Engineer.
• Strong communication and motivational leadership skills with the ability to develop a positive safety culture.
• Experience with developing and executing Preventative Maintenance Plans.
• Experience with CMMS & Process Software such as SAP and Factory Talk.
• Experience with Process Improvement Methodologies (Six Sigma, RCA, RCM etc.).
• Experience in Food Processing or Manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Powerhouse team in developing a positive environment focused on the needs of our people.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment per TSASK regulations and governing practices.
• Participate in the development, planning, execution, and review of preventative maintenance programs.
• Ensure daily inspections of key equipment such as ammonia-refrigeration, steam boilers, compressors, and water systems.
• Utilize Building Automation System to monitor and control HVAC and other systems.
• Record data accurately and manage operation information under the Chief Engineer’s jurisdiction.
• Provide leadership to direct reports with clear expectations, feedback, coaching and development.
• Assess performance of operating engineers and take appropriate actions per policies and regulations.
• Contribute to sustainability by reducing waste and improving efficiency of utility systems.
• Be prepared to take on additional responsibilities, including operating engineer duties when needed.
