Job summary

Export Development Canada (EDC) is seeking a Sr Reporting Analyst to migrate Cognos assets to Power BI and modernize reporting capabilities. You will partner with business users, data teams, and platform partners to deliver governance, performance, and scalable analytics.

Role requires strong SQL, experience with Cognos, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric, with hybrid work options and locations in Ottawa or major Canadian hubs. Open to experienced professionals ready to shape digital reporting.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Business, CS, MIS, Data Analytics, Finance, or equivalent.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in BI, reporting, analytics, deploying large-scale reporting in enterprise platforms such as Cognos, Power BI or similar.
Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
Experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, or paginated reports.
Experience migrating Cognos to Power BI: Report Studio, Framework Manager, Cognos packages and audits.
Strong SQL skills with relational databases, data marts, or data warehouses.
Ability to gather requirements, document logic, validate results, and communicate findings to both technical and business audiences.
Experience supporting report testing, reconciliation, defect resolution, and stakeholder sign-off.
Bilingualism in English and French.

Responsibilities

Assess, rationalize, redesign, and rebuild Cognos reporting assets on Power BI.
Work with stakeholders to confirm requirements and identify low-value or redundant reports.
Document current-state report logic, data sources, and mappings.
Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models aligned to standards.
Transform and validate data using SQL, Power Query, DAX, and enterprise sources.
Support UAT, reconcile Cognos vs Power BI results, investigate variances.
Collaborate with data engineering, governance, and platform teams for security and performance.
Prepare report inventories, technical docs, and user guidance for support teams.
Contribute to migration planning, backlog, and risk tracking.
Support production deployment and post-implementation validation.
