Job summary

Vista Projects is seeking a Senior Designer in Calgary to lead the preparation of complex piping, civil/structural, and EIC drawings for SAGD and oil & gas projects. You will independently complete design work from inception to delivery, coordinating across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outputs.

Reporting to the lead designer, you will mentor drafting staff, uphold Vista and client standards, and support feasibility studies and cost analyses while maintaining safety on site

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the oil and gas industry.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team including process, mechanical, civil structural, electrical, instrumentation and piping.
• Advanced computer skills and experience with major drafting and design software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, SmartPlant, AutoPLANT and PDMS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare layouts, calculations and designs related to the most complicated elements of projects.
• Design and detail complicated new components from previous designs based on engineering instructions and client standards.
• Produce drawings in a specialized field with minimum technical guidance.
• Coordinate complicated work between field and office.
• Assist field forces during construction.
• Assist with engineering feasibility and cost studies.
• Report progress of work to supervisor.
• Check work and assist training of less experienced drafting and design personnel.
• Ensure all drawings and materials meet Vista and client specs and standards.
• Make general recommendations on new drafting/design techniques within area of specialization.
• Analyze design elements for potential trends, feasibility, and contractual requirements.
• Be able to meet safety requirements to attend site visits.
• Perform other duties as requested.
