Job summary

Vista Projects in Calgary seeks an Intermediate Piping Designer to create and refine complex piping drawings and 3D models. You will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines and ensure compliance with client specifications and regulatory codes.

The role requires four years in energy facilities design, strong CAD skills, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, including on-site responsibilities and safety considerations.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry.
• Technical school certification / degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team including process, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical, instrumentation, and piping.
• Advanced computer skills and experience in major drafting and design software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CADWorx, SmartPlant, AutoPLANT, AVEVA and PDMS.
• Basic understanding of applicable government regulations and regulatory Codes.
• Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-discipline environment.
• Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits.

Responsibilities

• Producing complicated drawings and charts for major installations.
• Designing and detailing new components based on instructions and codes.
• Developing designs of limited scope requiring theoretical and practical knowledge.
• Assisting site during construction.
• Checking work and training less experienced staff.
• Reporting progress to supervisor.
• Analyzing design elements for trends, feasibility, and requirements.
• Ensuring drawings and materials meet Vista and client standards.
• Drafting 2D drawings, charts, schedules.
• Preparing as-built drawings from field markups.
• Developing 3D models under supervision.
