Job summary

Merriam Music in the GTA is seeking a results-driven sales professional to educate piano clients, identify opportunities, and guide them through the purchase and fulfillment process across our Oakville, Vaughan, and Toronto locations.

You don’t need piano sales experience; we value drive, curiosity, and strong communication. With base salary plus commissions, you can earn a total package between $90,000 and $130,000+ depending on performance.

Qualifications

• Must have post-secondary education and strong sales experience.
• Experience in selling to piano/music clients is not required.
• Minimum 2 years of sales experience with verifiable references.
• Fluency with current cloud productivity software and basic workflow.

Responsibilities

• Serve new & existing piano clients, educating them on products and services and facilitating purchases.
• Learn about and maintain expert-level knowledge of the marketplace and competitors.
• Provide floor coverage at our three GTA locations (Oakville, Vaughan, Toronto) as needed.
• Participate in development, training, and team meetings, including outside standard hours.
• Adhere to company processes, procedures and sales philosophies; use provided tools and systems.

The candidate we're seeking is best described as someone who:

Required Experience:

• Some experience playing an instrument, piano preferably, at any level
• Post-secondary education of any discipline
• At least 5 years of prior work experience (including self-employment), with available references
• At least 2 years of prior success in sales or similar
• Fluency with current cloud productivity software and basic workflow

The 'Nice to Haves':

• Fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese, both verbal and written
• Marketing experience including developing and executing social media campaigns, fostering community engagement and creating SEO-focused content

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve new & existing piano clients, educating them on our products and services, identifying enticing opportunities for them to purchase, and facilitating in the fulfilment process. Customers may be served in-person and virtually, including physically in a showdown, by phone, by SMS, email, at various promotional events, and online chat and social media.
• Learn about, and maintain an expert-level knowledge of the marketplace, both products and competitors.
• Provide floor coverage at any of our 3 locations as needed; however salespeople would always have a home-base where the majority of their time was focused. We currently operate 3 GTA locations, in Oakville, Vaughan, and Toronto.
• Participate in professional development, training, and team meetings, some of which may take place outside of standard shift times.
• Adhere to company processes, procedures, approaches and general sales philosophies, as well as use tools and systems as provided.

Salary Expectations & Benefits:

The compensation structure includes both base salary in addition to performance-based commission. Successful candidates have the ability to earn between $90,000 - $130,000+ per year depending on performance level.

Schedule & Location:

The schedule includes a blended schedule included day shifts, evening shifts and consistent weekends. This is an on-site and in-person role with little to no options to work remote from home.
