Job summary

HOOPP seeks an Associate Director, Pension Benefits & Policy, reporting to the Senior Director, Pension Design & Strategy. The role collaborates across Pension Services to support plan design, administration, policy, research, and regulatory compliance using strong legal expertise.

The successful candidate will help resolve member, employer and regulator escalations, monitor legal developments, and assist in policy development to facilitate regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• A law degree and Ontario bar with at least 7 years of legal experience.
• Minimum 5 years' pension plan experience; labour/employment a plus.
• Strong understanding of pension legislation and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent research, analytical and written/oral communication.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and mentor others.
• Team player with leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Senior Director, Pension Design & Strategy to provide legal advice on matters of pension plan administration.
• Support evolution of Plan design, administration, compliance and policies, leveraging regulatory understanding.
• Produce high-quality research and materials to support Plan design and administration for Senior Management and Board discussions.
• Support initiatives to develop Pension Services' staff capability and empowerment.
• Collaborate with HOOPP divisions (Legal, External Affairs, HR) on cross-divisional projects.
• Assist in policy development to ensure regulatory changes are incorporated.
