Job summary

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Payroll Operations to act as the primary contact for payroll, time off, and leave inquiries from university employees and HR partners. You will ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws, university policies, and collective agreements, performing detailed data analysis and transactions across Workday and related systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of payroll, HR administration, finance, or related fields.
• Three years of payroll processing in a large-scale environment.
• Bilingual English/French (spoken and written).
• Experience with Workday or similar payroll systems and Excel expertise.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Processing: handle inquiries, ensure accurate payroll results, and process cycles with strict deadlines.
• Payroll Recovery: analyze overpayments, coordinate repayments, and maintain accurate records.
• Absence Management: process leave requests, accruals, and return-to-work plans.
• Operational Excellence: support projects, analyze data, and document processes for audit readiness.
