About this opportunity: The Conventional Operations Team is looking to fill one Calgary-based Senior Operations Engineering role for the conventional business. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Conventional Operations Engineering, this dynamic role focuses on key aspects of the P&L, developing and implementing asset strategies for value maximization, and overseeing Operations Engineering, troubleshooting, and technical support across well production and field facilities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Promote safety as a core value, emphasizing Process Safety in design and operation, and collaborate on PSE responses.
  • Manage all key aspects of the P&L for your area, including production, costs, and capital, working closely with the Foreman to meet safety and business targets.
  • Handle production engineering tasks like well performance, decline mitigation, artificial lift design, and intervention programs.
  • Contribute to field development planning and well tie-in/onstream planning.
  • Support operations with technical infrastructure engineering, including field optimization and code standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, CSA Z662, API).
  • Manage day-to-day plant activities and communicate effectively with the Operations or Facilities Engineer team.
  • Participate in shutdown planning and execution alongside Field Leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with field personnel to solve operational issues with engineered solutions.
  • Lead project scoping, design, cost estimation, and economic analysis for facilities, presenting justifications aligned with corporate goals.
  • Engage stakeholders across departments to review performance, challenge anomalies, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Mentor team members, promote knowledge sharing, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve operations.

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Professional Engineer licensed by APEGA, capable of authenticating mechanical engineering deliverables.
  • At least eight years of relevant experience in operations, facilities, and production engineering; less experienced candidates may be considered at a different level.
  • Familiar with industry codes (e.g., ASME B31.3, CSA Z662).
  • Knowledge of upstream oil and gas industry and facility design.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams.
  • Capable of multitasking and managing deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with sound decision-making abilities.
