Role Overview
Our client is seeking a dynamic Operations Engineer to lead engineering workflows, support day-to-day operational execution, and ensure smooth integration of engineering and site activities. This is a hybrid role combining process engineering, commissioning, and operational responsibilities with leadership exposure.
You will be based in Calgary during the engineering phase of the project and then transition to a rotational schedule at the site in Saskatchewan to support construction, commissioning, and operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a solution-focused mindset, and a drive for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Support
•\tProvide operational engineering support to project design and execution teams
•\tDevelop and lead readiness plans to transition from project to operations
•\tContribute technical input to construction and commissioning planning
•\tParticipate in the development of lab and MOC (Management of Change) processes
•\tLiaise with licensors and project engineering teams to ensure operational alignment
Operations & Commissioning
•\tMonitor and optimize process performance to improve efficiency and safety
•\tSupport start-up, testing, and commissioning activities with hands-on engineering oversight
•\tEnsure operational integration of engineering designs
•\tAct as the technical point of contact for deliverables, milestones, and performance tracking
Risk Management & Compliance
•\tConduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
•\tEnsure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements
•\tSupport documentation and reporting in alignment with operational standards
Qualifications
•\tBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
•\tProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required
•\tMinimum of 7 years of engineering experience, with exposure to operations
•\tPrior involvement in commissioning or start-up projects is considered a strong asset

Other Requirements
•\tThis is a safety-sensitive role and requires passing a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol test
•\tOccasional interprovincial and international travel may be required
•\tPhysical fitness is necessary for inspections, SCBA use, and work at heights
