Job summary

Lifemark Health Group in Orléans near Ottawa is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to lead assessments and return-to-work planning for clients recovering from motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries. You will guide rehabilitation, coordinate care with veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, first responders, and others through the PCVRS program.

In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary team, mentor staff, and support continued professional development

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing as an Occupational Therapist.
• Provide leadership in Case Management.
• Act as a preceptor or Supervisor where required.
• Knowledge of current Occupational Therapy standards, modalities and scope of practice; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists in your province.
• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle may be required.
• In some cases, Valid Vulnerable Sector screening check
• In some cases, Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance (within 6 months)

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the worker's physical, cognitive, and psychological functions, as well as job demands and workplace environment.
• Create tailored, graded return-to-work plans with specific, measurable goals that gradually increase activity and build tolerance.
• Provide a safe, non-judgmental space offering understanding on the trauma's impact to help clients feel secure, manage triggers, and build self-awareness.
• Concussion management and return-to-function planning.
• Focus on holistic recovery through skill-building, routine establishment, sensory strategies, and creating safe, trauma-informed environments to support participation in meaningful work, school, and social roles.
• Perform clinical evaluations, provide exercises, functional tasks, and cognitive strategies (e.g., pacing, energy conservation) to address injury-related deficits.
• Identify appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations.
• Teach techniques like mindfulness, relaxation, and sleep hygiene to manage pain, fatigue, and emotional distress.
• Provide education to the client about the recovery process, the benefits of staying connected to work, and their roles in the plan.
• Identify suitable modified duties, adapt the work environment, and monitor progress where appropriate.
• Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart.
• Excel in a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team environment.
• Exhibit sound professional judgment.
