Job summary

Simplesense seeks a Senior System Specialist to serve as the technical escalation point for the NOC and Support Desk, working across AWS cloud infrastructure and on‑prem edge networks to diagnose complex outages, increase observability, and maintain mission-critical availability.

You will mentor a team of System Specialists, develop robust runbooks, and partner with Engineering to ensure secure, resilient platforms.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a NOC, IT Ops, or Tier 2/3 Systems Support role.
• AWS Cloud Networking: experience troubleshooting VPCs, SGs, NACLs, Route Tables, and hybrid connectivity.
• Observability Administration: hands-on with alerts, dashboards, and log queries in Splunk/DataDog.
• Networking: strong experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switch routing.
• Linux Proficiency: proficient with Linux CLI, logs, and scripting for troubleshooting.
• Compliance: U.S. citizen with ability to obtain DoD CAC and DoD NIPR access.
• Security Clearance: DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical backstop for the NOC, leading incident response and restoring services quickly.
• Monitor and troubleshoot AWS cloud networking, EC2 health, and OS-level issues in virtualized environments.
• Diagnose hybrid connectivity problems spanning on‑prem and cloud networks; parse logs to isolate root causes.
• Design and refine runbooks; mentor junior System Specialists and improve team workflows.
• Collaborate with Engineering to ensure platforms remain resilient, secure, and fully operational.
