Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Senior Network Specialist. This role can be based out of one our main offices including: Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON; Calgary, AB.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

As an Senior Network Specialist with Sobeys, you will:

  • Lead the Network Services Team in the implementation, management, maintenance, and enhancement of the Sobeys National Network.
  • Promote and use the Network Services processes, procedures, methods, skills, tools, and infrastructure to support the National Network.
  • Respond to user’s network requests as they relate to data and WiFi.
  • Co-ordinate day-to-day operation of the Team in support of the Sobeys National Network which includes installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the infrastructure.
  • Support of all wide-Area Network sites including regional offices, and retail support center locations.
  • Implement and support routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) in a multi-site network.
  • Partner with architecture and operations teams to ensure uptime and service quality.
  • Perform site surveys, capacity planning, and upgrades at critical locations.
  • Project manage the rollout of network infrastructure.
  • Support the closure of identified risks and controls.
  • Document network designs, standards, and procedures.
  • Project manage the rollout of infrastructure into the environment.
  • Lead and assign the team’s daily work assignments.
  • Perform second level problem determination/ resolution for problems within the WAN.
  • Liaison with vendors to provide cost-effective technology solutions in support of customer requirements.
  • Make recommendations to address problems, improve service, and provide improved support.
  • Coordinate Network hardware and software repair/ warranty and scheduled maintenance.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and methods to analyze network problems.
  • Test proposed solutions in a lab environment prior to rollout.
  • Act as a design lead, researching and proposing new technological solutions.
  • Available/ able to respond to incidents in the off-hours and an on call basis.

What you have to offer:

Your experience and resume will show us:

  • An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Data, voice, video, and/ or RF experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco Equipment and IOS.
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of monitoring and management tools.
  • In-depth understanding of Layer 2/3 networking, including routing protocols.
  • Experience managing enterprise-grade wireless networks.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, SNMP, and config management tools.
  • Strong Project management experience.
  • Certified Cisco Internetworking expertise via CCNP, CCNA, or working towards CCIE Certifications.
